Sims lacks the size and range to be a starter at the next level, but he could be effective on special teams. He has a solid understanding of coverage and regularly directs his teammates into position. He also can change directions quickly to mirror slot receivers in man coverage. However, he does not have the speed to be a true center fielder and lacks the bulk to be an in-the-box safety. He also has had some legal and academic issues. Overall, Sims is a smart football player that can tackle well and may be a late round pick.

Sims has a compact muscular build. Well prepared player that recognizes routes and rarely bites on play action. Reads the QB's eyes and can jump underneath routes. Possesses fluid hips to line up over the slot and delivers a strong jam to reroute receivers. Reads quickly, fills hard, and breaks down ball carriers in space.

Does not have the speed to cover the deep middle or the burst to close when the ball is in the air. Will bite on double moves and lets receivers behind him. Short and will get boxed out in jump ball situations. Takes poor pursuit angles at times in run support and leaves cutback lanes. Has character concerns.
