Overview

Marshall will need a pretty in-depth background check by any team considering drafting him. He has had off the field issues at both the University of Virginia as well as at Marshall. He is a good small college running back but may lack any one thing that stands out which would make you think he is a lock to play at the next level. He is undersized and lacks the kind of top end speed that compensates for his lack of power and strength as a runner. He is shifty and runs with good vision and will show a decent burst through the hole. He has a tendency to run a bit high and is not great at finishing his runs off.

Analysis

Strengths

Possesses good initial quickness and has the vision to find holes. Makes people miss and has enough lateral agility to stretch it to the perimeter. Could be an effective outside zone runner. Rushed for 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons. Shows a nose for the endzone.

Weaknesses

Arrested for drug possession in 2009 and suspended for the season opener. Does not have good size and may not handle pounding at next level. Struggles to get difficult yards and finish runs. Lacks the top end speed to make big plays. Misses assignments when blocking. Runs inconsistent routes and was not a productive receiver in college.
