Steps downhill to support run, breaking down in space and playing under control. While he's not a big hitter, he will do whatever is needed to make the tackle. Smart and instinctive. Shows a great feel for what offenses are doing immediately after the snap. Started for three years for well-coached defensive unit. Found the ball and made plays with 12 interceptions in three years, including seven in 2014.

Doesn't run well. Struggles to provide range over the top from sideline to sideline as deep safety. Will overcompensate to quarterback's eyes and can be moved from his spot due to lack of recovery speed. Has issues in zone coverage when receiver stems routes and will get beaten deep when he has deep responsibility.

Bottom Line

Hackett has limited speed and is thinner than desired for the position. He has some holes in coverage and isn't going to come up and thump as a run supporter, but there are some personnel men that think highly of him as a potential playmaker at the next level.
