Overview

Johnson is a prospect because of his outstanding size, durability, playing experience, and nastiness but lacks the athleticism of a starting NFL offensive lineman. Probably finds a home as a backup right tackle. Has great strength which he uses to his advantage against bull rushers and while run blocking in tight spaces. Shows adequate awareness in blitz recognition but doesn't always zero-in on his man when run blocking. Not suited to move laterally when mirroring pass rushers or out in space blocking at the second level. Johnson is a guy who will receive late-round consideration.

Analysis

Strengths

Johnson is a massive offensive line prospect. Can hold up against the bull rush and is more comfortable with the quick set, when he can jolt defenders with his strength. Will overwhelm smaller defensive lineman in a phone booth with his frame and size. Displays great toughness and fire and will fight until the whistle. Durable.

Weaknesses

Lacks speed, foot quickness and overall mobility. In pass protection, struggles with speed rushers who possess great burst and when facing counter moves. Slow out of his stance when run blocking and is often late to his spot. Not comfortable blocking in space and not a candidate to pull and get out in front on the edge.
