Allen lacks the size and speed to be a starter at the next level, but he could contribute as a change-of-pace back. He effectively hides behind his blockers and has the vision to find holes and cutback lanes. He is a very capable receiver that has experience lining up wide and turns and runs effectively after the catch. However, he does not have the explosion to get open in man coverage and he will not gain consistent yardage after the catch. Allen is a solid football player, but his physical limitations probably make him a rookie free agent.

Allen is a versatile running back with a low center of gravity. Follows his blockers and locates seams. Finds soft spots in zone coverage, flashes reliable hands and catches the ball in stride. Keeps his head on a swivel and is a willing blocker in pass protection.

On the smaller side and lacks the strength to be an every down back. Does not have the speed to get the edge at the next level. Runs too high and will not break many tackles or push the pile. Has issues at times with ball security. Not overly elusive in space.
